The peatbog of Úpa resembles a subarctic tundra that “came” here during the last glaciation period. What reminds us of this time – are rare and precious post glacial relics that can be found here. A relic is a lifeform that was more widespread or more diverse in long the past. This is a truly unique place in and therefore remains under the strict protection zone of the Karkonosze National Park. |
